Great Minds Think Alike

Well, what do you know. Just 12 hours after I posted the idea that we should recall President Bush for the exact same reasons California Republicans sought to oust recently re-elected Governor Gray Davis, he says the same thing:
"If you want to recall me because I used to have a deficit, then let's recall every governor -- Republican and Democrat -- who went from surplus to deficit," he said. "And let's recall the president of the United States," whom he said took the country from its greatest-ever surplus to its greatest-ever deficit.

I hope this is a message the public will take to heart. The damage the Bush administration is doing to this country grows by the day -- we cannot afford to wait over a year for him to be deposed. Again I suggest that you visit and support VoteToImpeach.org -- we need to do more than just dismiss this President like we did his father. We need to send a clear message to all elected officials that the values and philosophies embraced by the Wingnuts do not work, and will never be welcome again.

(If you can't bring yourself to support impeaching the President despite the lies and deceptions he and his administration have engaged in, then at the very least register to vote Democrat or Green or Independent and encourage others to do so.)

Some of you may be scratching your head at the phrase Davis used, "I used to have a deficit." That's right -- thanks to deals Davis made with creditors and the legislature before the recall started, the state is ending up with a surplus this year (though the budget crisis won't be completely over for quite some time yet). So the primary (many would say "sole") reason most people are dissatisfied with Davis has gone away -- so why are they even having this election anymore? And why can't we stop focusing on him and start focusing on the real source of deficits that hurt us all -- the policies and lies of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Rice and Snow?
