Bush War Lies #23

Actually, this edition should properly be called Powell War Lies (or perhaps Misleading Colon Noises), but hey we're stuck with a series title.

This article from the Seattle Times really does an outstanding job of summing up just how many lies we were fed. Hell, forget the US -- how many lies the United Nations was fed attempting to justify an illegal and -- as it turns out -- totally unwarranted invasion.

Those who continue to argue -- rather stupidly, I must add -- that being lied to and manipulated was/is OK because the one thing that is undeniable and everyone agrees on is that Saddam was a bad man who mistreated his own people, might have become a threat to the US at some point in the future and/or attacked US interests overseas, and needed removing -- and that this alone was sufficient justification for war -- conveniently ignore the many more immediate threats to US safety and security that should have been "pre-emptively invaded" first.

Hello, Saudi Arabia -- still funding terrorists and hiding Iraqi and Al-Queda fugitives? Hello, Syria -- ditto? Hello North Korea -- madman sitting on actual nuclear weapons (not pretend, Stimpy -- real!) that could reach California? Hello Pakistan, aka the nuclear-armed Terrorist's Paradis, working tirelessly to destabilise what little government Afghanistan has and reconstitute Al-Queda? And finally, Hello Iraq -- huge chunks of which are allowing terrorist back in and still openly operating training camps and other operations designed to kill US soldiers?

HELLO, VOTERS??
