Microsoft's Latest Evil Plan to Rule the World

Could somebody please explain to me how we, the generation raised from birth to be on guard for mad geniuses plotting to take over the world (courtesy our constant exposure to Saturday Morning Cartoons), somehow managed to completely miss Bill Gates?

He even has an ape-like henchman, fer da lubba Pete!

This article (published, in a fit on irony, on MSNBC) by Stephen Levy give the world the latest word to fear (after "Echelon") -- Palladium. This article at the Register, OTOH, gets medieval on the ass of MS's reasoning behind Palladium. As they correctly point out, nearly every major computer security problem, virus and backdoor exists because of Microsoft. So naturally, they want to be the ones to fix it. Who's dumb enough to buy into this BS? Raise your hands and hold very still, because we need time to aim.

This thinly-veiled attempt to have MS micro-manage your entire life via your computer (check out the chilling section on how they plan to kill viruses!) is nothing but Hailstorm (the poorly-thought-out and quickly-shot-down attempt by MS to take over the banking industry) with a new drag get-up and tawdry lipstick crudely applied.

Once again, we see the stark difference between MS and the other computer companies. MS thinks you're all thieves and liars, but above all else they think you are idiots. The other companies (Apple, Sun, Red Hat, et al) don't. It's really just that simple.
